Andrew McGregor introduces a new production of Berlioz’s opera Benvenuto Cellini from ENO.

After the success of 2011’s The Damnation of Faust, director Terry Gilliam and conductor Edward Gardner reunite to stage this rarely-performed work which recounts the lively memoirs of Cellini, a 16th century sculptor in Rome.

Andrew will be joined by Dr Sarah Hibberd from Nottingham University to discuss Berlioz’s score.

The cast is led by tenor Michael Spyres in the title role and soprano Corinne Winters as Cellini’s lover, Teresa.
